Georeferenced data of wind turbines in the North Sea: 2016

Nicola McPherson
Gridded data, in ascii text format, of wind turbines at the spatial extent of the North Sea (2016). Data are produced at three different spatial resolutions: 0.1, 0.25 and 0.5 decimal degree, respectively. Values represent estimated proportion of grid cell occupied by structures. Data were processed and aggregated from Kingfisher Awareness Charts (http://www.kis‑orca.eu/) to support projects under the INSITE (INfluence of man-made Structures In The Ecosystem) programme.

Georeferenced data of oil and gas platforms in the North Sea: 2011-2012

Nicola McPherson
Gridded data, in ascii text format, of oil and gas platforms at the spatial extent of the North Sea (2012). Data are produced at three different spatial resolutions: 0.1, 0.25 and 0.5 decimal degree, respectively. Values represent estimated proportion of grid cell occupied by structures. Data were processed and aggregated from the fixed platform database (http://oilandgasuk.co.uk, October 2012) to support projects under the INSITE (INfluence of man-made Structures In The Ecosystem) programme.

Georeferenced data of wrecks in the North Sea: 2016

Nicola McPherson
Gridded data, in ascii text format, of wrecks at the spatial extent of the North Sea (2012). Data are produced at three different spatial resolutions: 0.1, 0.25 and 0.5 decimal degree, respectively. Values represent estimated proportion of grid cell occupied by structures. Source data, obtained upon request from the Wreck Site (https://www.wrecksite.eu/), were processed and aggregated to support projects under the INSITE (INfluence of man-made Structures In The Ecosystem) programme.

The Canyons - Infauna - 2017

Paul McIlwaine
These data are counts of infauna derived from the analysis of 37 samples collected at The Canyons MCZ in May and June 2017 on board the RV Cefas Endeavour. It also includes marine litter data recorded on the SACFOR scale. Marine Conservation Zones (MCZs) are a new form of Marine Protected Area (MPAs) created under the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009 which will protect a range of nationally important habitats and species. By protecting...

Virus shedding and food consumption in KHV challenged carp

Nicola McPherson
This dataset details feeding behaviour and mucus virus titres of 20 carp (Cyprinus carpio) challenged with Koi Herpes Virus (KHV). Twenty carp (E1-E20) were bath challenged with KHV for four hours at 23 degrees Celsius. Five control carp (CA-CE) were mock challenged under the same conditions. KHV challenged and control fish were maintained in separate locations but under the same conditions. Fish were fed up to 40 food pellets daily and the number of uneaten...

Experimental results of trials to assess non-native fish impacts on the diet and trophic position of native pond fishes using stable isotope analysis in outdoor artificial ponds

Tea Basic
These data derive from experiments carried out during the spring and summer months of two successive years (2014 and 2015) in outdoor experimental ponds previously situated in East Sussex. The aim of the experiments was to determine whether or not introduced non-native fish species have an adverse impact on the diet and trophic position of native pond fishes. The experimental set up was more or less identical in both years, the study species in 2014...

Horizontal and Vertical Movements of Atlantic cod and European plaice in the North Sea and English Channel from 1996 to 2010 Derived from Data Storage Tags

David Righton
This data is derived from the deployment of archival data storage tags (DST) on Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) and European plaice (Pleuronectes platessa) in the North Sea and English Channel. Tags were deployed throughout the time period 1996 – 2010. The dataset includes 107 individual fish each with its own bivariate time series of horizontal (m day-1) and vertical movements (m day-1). Daily geolocation estimates (latitude and longitude) are also provided. The length of each...

UK shelf and North Sea quantitative sediment composition predictions

Oliver Williams
Spatial predictions of substrate composition for the UK shelf and North Sea. Compositional fractions of mud, sand and gravel were modelled for an area of the UK and North Sea using a statistical regression model. This dataset consists of percentage composition predictions for the mud, sand and gravel components as raster tifs. In addition the proportion of each of these sediment components were combined to predict the likely sediment classification as both a EUNIS habitat...
