Structural packaging foams prepared by uni-directional freezing of paper sludge cellulose nanofibres and poly (vinyl alcohol).

Cynthia Adu, Sameer Rahatekar, Jyoti Filby, David Ayre & Mark Jolly
This dataset contains results from the experimental tests on cellulose nanofibres and polyvinyl alcohol foams prepared by uni-directional freezing. The compression tests of 8 samples are recorded here with their stress-strain curves plotted. Additional parameters of the foams such as density, volume, porosity are also recorded.

A numerical study of deep borehole heat exchangers in unconventional geothermal systems

Théo Renaud
Poster presented at the Cranfield Doctoral Network Annual Event 2018.
The geothermal energy sector is facing numerous challenges related to heat recovery efficiency and economic feasibility. Ongoing research on superheated/supercritical geothermal system, potentially representing a intensive amount of energy, is developed in Europe notably the Iceland Deep Drilling project (IDDP). The well IDDP-1, which reached a magma intrusion at a depth of 2100 m, raised new opportunities to untap the geothermal potential near shallow magmatic intrusions....

Anomaly Detection for Security Imaging

Jerone Andrews
Technical paper presented at the 2016 Defence and Security Doctoral Symposium.

Non-intrusive inspection systems are increasingly used to scan intermodal freight shipping containers, at national ports, to ensure cargo conformity with customs regulations. Initially, each container is risk assessed based on shipping information such as origin, destination, and manifest. If the risk is deemed sufficiently high the container is imaged, typically by non-intrusive X-ray radiography. Finally, on the basis of the X-ray image, a human operator...

Database of Global Research Activity on Manganese (DOGRAM)

Institute Of Environment And Health
In 2016, the MHRP database/website was closed, and this fileset is the csv export of database content (one csv for each table; tblIAddress is indeed empty), preserved as it may still be of value to researchers in this area. The MHRP project description follows:

In addition to the research being conducted as part of the MHRP, there are many other activities underway world-wide. In order to provide interested stakeholders with up to date information on the...

Interviews of Human Intelligence (HUMINT) Officers

Jordan Nunan, Rebecca Milne, Andrea Shawyer, Dave Walsh & Ian Stanier
Poster presented at the 2017 Defence and Security Doctoral Symposium.
Intelligence led policing is deemed a proactive measure to counter criminal activity. The use of both overt and covert practices are used to support this proactive approach to policing England and Wales. There are a variety of methods that agencies can use to collect intelligence. First amongst collection capabilities is the discipline of HUMINT, the branch charged with eliciting intelligence through interaction with human sources, such...

Underlying data for article titled 'The effect of UV irradiation duty cycle on the 2nd harmonic coupling efficiency in optical fiber long period gratings'

James Barrington, Matthew Partridge, Ralph Tatam & Stephen James
This data was used to generate Fig. 3, 4, and 5 presented in 'The effect of UV irradiation duty cycle on the 2nd harmonic coupling efficiency in optical fiber long period gratings'.
The data set contains transmission spectra for a 380 um period LPG with duty cycles varying from 0-100% in 5% increments.
Each duty cycle contains 10 spectra.
File nomenclature is "X%_duty_cycle_Y" where X is percentage of duty cycle and Y is irradiation cycle number.
