Leaf and reproductive litterfall from Laupahoehoe, Hawaii from October 2009 to July 2018

Stephanie Pau, Susan Cordell, Rebecca Ostertag, Lawren Sack & Faith Inman-Narahari
The Laupāhoehoe Forest Dynamic Plot (FDP; 19°55’ N, 155°17’ W), part of the Forest Global Earth Observatory (ForestGEO) network (https://forestgeo.si.edu/) and Hawaiʻi Permanent Plot Network (HIPPNET) network (http://www.hippnet.hawaii.edu/), is a tropical montane wet forest located at 1120 m in elevation on the Island of Hawaiʻi (see Ostertag et al., 2014 for detailed site information). To monitor reproductive and leaf phenology, sixty-four litter traps within a 4-hectare plot were placed in a regular grid, 10-meters apart....

The Pedagogics of Liberation: A Latin American Philosophy of Education

Enrique Dussel
"Enrique Dussel is considered one of the founding philosophers of liberation in the Latin American tradition, an influential arm of what is now called decoloniality. While he is astoundingly prolific, relatively few of his works can be found in English translation — and none of these focus specifically on education. Founding members of the Latin American Philosophy of Education Society David I. Backer and Cecilia Diego bring to us Dussel’s The Pedagogics of Liberation: A...

Data for Variations in the Intensity and Spatial Extent of Tropical Cyclone Precipitation

Danielle Touma, Samantha Stevenson, Suzana Camargo, Daniel Horton & Noah Diffenbaugh
The intensity and spatial extent of tropical cyclone precipitation (TCP) often shapes the risk posed by landfalling storms. Here we provide a comprehensive climatology of landfalling TCP characteristics as a function of tropical cyclone strength, using daily precipitation station data and Atlantic US landfalling tropical cyclone tracks from 1900-2017. We analyze the intensity and spatial extent of ≥ 1 mm/day TCP (Z1) and ≥ 50 mm/day TCP (Z50). We show that the highest median intensity...
