This dataset provides the measurement records of the CeilinEx2015 Ceilometer Inter-comparison Experiment (url: http://ceilinex2015.de/) which was held in Deutscher Wetterdienst's Richard-Assmann Meteorological Observatory in Lindenberg, Germany between June 1st and September 15th 2015. Ceilometers are widely applied to determine cloud base heights, moreover they provide aerosol backscatter profiles up to 15km from the ground. This dataset contains global precipitation observations combined from satellite and rain gauge data over ocean and over land, respectively. It spans the years 1988-2015 and has a spatial resolution of 2.5°×2.5°, 1.0°×1.0°, and 0.5°×0.5° (Europe). Satellite observations are based on SSM/I Level 2 and SSMIS data of the HOAPS 4.0 dataset of CM SAF (DOI: 10.5676/EUM_SAF_CM/HOAPS/V002 ).
