Geochemistry of Fe-Mn crusts in sediments of the Central Indian Ridge, supplement to: Kuhn, Thomas; Bau, Michael; Blum, Nevin; Halbach, Peter (1998): Origin of negative Ce anomalies in mixed hydrothermal-hydrogenetic Fe-Me crusts from the Central Indian Ridge. Earth and Planetary Science Letters, 163(1-4), 207-220

Thomas Kuhn, Michael Bau, Nevin Blum & Peter Halbach
Layered Fe-Mn crusts from the off-axis region of the first segment of the Central Indian Ridge north of the Rodrigues Triple Junction were studied geochemically and mineralogically. Vernadite (delta-MnO2) is the main mineral oxide phase. 230Thxs and Co concentrations suggest high growth rates of up to 29 mm/Myr and a maximum age of the basal crust layer of 1 Ma. Whereas most of the major and minor elements show concentrations which are typical of hydrogenetic...

Rock-magnetic data of ODP Site 105-645 (Appendix), supplement to: Hall, Frank R; King, John W (1989): Rock-magnetic stratigraphy of Site 645 (Baffin Bay) from ODP Leg 105. In: Srivastava, SP; Arthur, M; Clement, B; et al. (eds.), Proceedings of the Ocean Drilling Program, Scientific Results, College Station, TX (Ocean Drilling Program), 105, 843-859

Frank R Hall & John W King
We present the rock-magnetic stratigraphy for Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) Leg 105, Site 645 (Baffin Bay). Variations in magnetic mineral concentration (X) and particle size (XAKM/X) are used to correlate advanced piston corer (APC) cores from several holes at Site 645. Downsite variations in rock-magnetic parameters and carbonate content are placed within the framework of inferred changes in sedimentation. These results suggest an initiation of Northern Hemisphere ice rafting in Baffin Bay in the early-late...

Geochemistry on interstitial water of 5 sediment profiles from the Persian Gulf, supplement to: de Groot, K (1973): Geochemistry of tidal flat brines at Umm Said, SE Quatar, Persian Gulf. In: Purser, B H; The Persian Gulf, Holocene carbonate sedimentation and diagenesis in a shallow epicontiental sea. Springer-Verlag, Berlin, 377-394

K de Groot
The landward part of the 7 km wide sabkha at Umm Said, SE Qatar, is filled with a stagnant brine virtually saturated with halite. Recent dolomite occurs in the sabkha sediments, the quantity being fully accounted for by the amount of Mg++ ions lost from the interstitial brine. The existence of a reflux system in the seaward parts of the sabkha was established. It was not, however, possible to gi ve any unequivocal demonstration of the...

Neogene diatoms from the western Antarctic Peninsula, supplement to: Iwai, Masao; Winter, Diane M (2002): Data report: Taxonomic notes of Neogene diatoms from the western Antarctic peninsula: Ocean Drilling Program Leg 178. In: Barker, PF; Camerlenghi, A; Acton, GD; Ramsay, ATS (eds.) Proceedings of the Ocean Drilling Program, Scientific Results, College Station, TX (Ocean Drilling Program), 178, 1-57

Masao Iwai & Diane M Winter
During Ocean Drilling Program Leg 178 we cored nine sites on the continental rise (Sites 1095, 1096, and 1101), continental shelf (Sites 1097, 1100, 1102, and 1103), and in an inner shelf basin, Palmer Deep (Sites 1098 and 1099), along the Pacific margin of the Antarctic Peninsula. Fossil diatoms are a key group that provides age constraint for these shelf site sediments to allow reconstruction of Antarctic Peninsula glacial history. This paper provides the systematic...
