G De Cataldo
The DCS (Detector Control System) of the ALICE experiment at LHC aims to integrate, configure, and monitor all the participating sub-detectors. The HMPID (High Momentum Particle Identification Detector), based on a Ring Imaging Cherenkov, is one of the ALICE sub-detectors. Its control system (CS) has to ensure the detector configuration, standalone running mode for test and maintenance, and integration in the ALICE DCS. In order to design the HMPID CS, we present in this paper...

T Fields, J Whitmore, R Singer & D Rhines
The authors make several comparisons of correlations in annihilation with those in multiparticle production in 205 GeV pp collisions. A model is used in which the pionization process is interpreted as the independent emission of several clusters of pions, with each cluster having properties similar to the supposed single cluster annihilation of pp. (10 refs).

H Frehse
During the last years it has become quite evident that one should aim at trigger systems with high selectivity in order to improve the purity of data and simultaneously remove load from the off-line processing. At the CERN ISR typical pp interaction rates are in the order of 1-3 MHz. Therefore experiments studying low cross-section processes need trigger systems that provide reduction factors in the order of 10/sup 5/ to avoid dead-time losses. The use...
