Search for flavor-changing neutral current interactions of the top quark and Higgs boson in final states with two photons in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV

Proton-proton interactions resulting in final states with two photons are studied in a search for the signature of flavor-changing neutral current interactions of top quarks (t) and Higgs bosons (H). The analysis is based on data collected at a center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=13~\mathrm{TeV}$ with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $137~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$. No significant excess above the background prediction is observed. Upper limits on the branching fractions ($\mathcal B$) of the...

Centrality dependence of identified particles in relativistic heavy ion collisions at sqrt(s)= 7.7-62.4 GeV

BNL-RHIC. Elliptic flow ($v_{2}$) values for identified particles at midrapidity in Au + Au collisions measured by the STAR experiment in the Beam Energy Scan at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 7.7-62.4 GeV are presented for three centrality classes. The centrality dependence and the data at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 14.5 GeV are new. Except at the lowest beam energies we observe a similar relative $v_{2}$ baryon-meson splitting for all centrality classes which is...

Evidence for Higgs boson decays to a low-mass dilepton system and a photon in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s} =$ 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

CERN-LHC, ATLAS. A search for the Higgs boson decaying into a photon and a pair of electrons or muons with an invariant mass $m_{\ell\ell} < 30$ GeV is presented. The analysis is performed using 139 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton collision data, produced by the LHC at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV and collected by the ATLAS experiment. Evidence for the $H \rightarrow \ell \ell \gamma$ process is found with a significance of 3.2$\sigma$ over the...

T and F asymmetries in $π^0$ photoproduction on the proton

&
A2 at MAMI. The $\gamma p \to \pi^0 p$ reaction was studied at laboratory photon energies from 425 to 1445 MeV with a transversely polarized target and a longitudinally polarized beam. The beam-target asymmetry F was measured for the first time and new high precision data for the target asymmetry T were obtained. The systematic uncertainty is dominated by the determination of the degree of proton polarization (4%), the degree of photon beam polarization (2%),...

Global polarization of $\Xi$ and $\Omega$ hyperons in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}$ = 200 GeV

Global polarization of $\Xi$ and $\Omega$ hyperons has been measured for the first time in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV. The measurements of the $\Xi^-$ and $\bar{\Xi}^+$ hyperon polarization have been performed by two independent methods, via analysis of the angular distribution of the daughter particles in the parity violating weak decay $\Xi\rightarrow\Lambda+\pi$, as well as by measuring the polarization of the daughter $\Lambda$-hyperon, polarized via polarization transfer from its parent. The polarization,...

Search for Higgs boson pair production in the two bottom quarks plus two photons final state in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV with the ATLAS detector

CERN-LHC, ATLAS. Limits on pair production of Higgs bosons in the final state with two bottom quarks plus two photons. The search is based on 139 $fb^{-1}$ of pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. Data include exactly two b-tagged jets with a 77% working point and two well-identified isolated photons. The search is sensitive to both resonant and nonresonant production of Higgs boson...

Measurement of the inclusive and differential WZ production cross sections, polarization angles, and triple gauge couplings in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV

The associated production of a $\mathrm{W}$ and a $\mathrm{Z}$ boson is studied in final states with multiple leptons produced in proton-proton ($\mathrm{p}$$\mathrm{p}$) collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of $13~\mathrm{TeV}$ using $137~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. A measurement of the total inclusive production cross section yields $\sigma_{\textrm{tot}}(\mathrm{pp}\to\mathrm{WZ}) = 50.6 \pm 0.8 (\textrm{stat}) \pm 1.5 (\textrm{syst}) \pm 1.1 (\textrm{lum}) \pm 0.5 (\textrm{theo})~\mathrm{pb}$. Measurements of the fiducial and differential cross sections for...

Measurement of inclusive charged-particle b-jet production in pp and p-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}} = 5.02$ TeV

A measurement of the inclusive b-jet production cross section is presented in pp and p-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}~=0.5~$TeV, using data collected with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The jets were reconstructed in the central rapidity region $|\eta|<0.5$ from charged particles using the anti-$k_{\rm T}$ algorithm with resolution parameter $R=0.4$. Identification of b jets exploits the long lifetime of b-hadrons, using the properties of secondary vertices and impact parameter distributions. The $p_\mathrm{T}$-differential inclusive production cross...

Observation of a multiplicity dependence in the $p_{\rm T}$-differential charm baryon-to-meson ratios in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV

The production of prompt $\rm D^{0}$, $\rm D^{+}_{s}$, and $\rm \Lambda_{c}^{+}$ hadrons, and their ratios, $\rm D^{+}_{s} / D^{0}$ and $\rm \Lambda_{c}^{+} / D^{0}$, are measured in proton--proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13$~TeV at midrapidity ($|y|<0.5$) with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The measurements are performed as a function of the charm-hadron transverse momentum ($p_{\rm T}$) in intervals of charged-particle multiplicity, measured with two multiplicity estimators covering different pseudorapidity regions. While the strange to non-strange $\rm...

Measurement of cold nuclear matter effects for inclusive $J/\psi$ in $p$+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{\mathrm{NN}}}}$ = 200 GeV

Measurement by the STAR experiment at RHIC of the cold nuclear matter (CNM) effects experienced by inclusive \jpsi\ at mid-rapidity in 0-100\% \pAu\ collisions at \sqrtsNN\ = 200 GeV is presented. Such effects are quantified utilizing the nuclear modification factor, \rpa, obtained by taking a ratio of \jpsi\ yield in \pAu\ collisions to that in \pp\ collisions scaled by the number of binary nucleon-nucleon collisions. The differential \jpsi\ yield in both \pp\ and \pAu\ collisions...

Search for resonances decaying to three W bosons in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV

The first search at the LHC for resonances decaying into a $\mathrm{W}$ and a radion boson, where the radion boson decays into two $\mathrm{W}$ bosons, is presented. The data analyzed correspond to an integrated luminosity of 138 $\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ recorded in proton-proton collisions with the CMS detector at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV. One isolated charged lepton from a $\mathrm{W}$ boson decay is required, while the decay products of the other two $\mathrm{W}$ bosons are reconstructed as...

Search for light Higgs bosons from supersymmetric cascade decays in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ =13 TeV

A search is reported for pairs of light Higgs bosons ($\mathrm{H}_1$) produced in supersymmetric cascade decays in final states with small missing transverse momentum. A data set of LHC pp collisions collected with the CMS detector at $\sqrt s=13\;\mathrm{TeV}$ and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $137\;\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ is used. The search targets events where both $\mathrm{H}_1$ bosons decay into $b\bar{b}$ pairs that are reconstructed as large-radius jets using substructure techniques. No evidence is found for...

Search for new particles in an extended Higgs sector with four b quarks in the final state at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV

A search for an extended Higgs sector, characterized by a massive resonance X decaying to a pair of spin-0 bosons $\phi$ that themselves decay to pairs of bottom quarks, is presented. The analysis is restricted to the mass ranges $m_\phi$ from 25 to 100 GeV and $m_\textrm{X}$ from 1 to 3 TeV. For these mass ranges, the decay products of each $\phi$ boson are expected to merge into a single large-radius jet. Jet substructure and...

Search for resonant pair production of Higgs bosons in the $b\bar{b}b\bar{b}$ final state using $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

A search for resonant Higgs boson pair production in the $b\bar{b}b\bar{b}$ final state is presented. The analysis uses 126-139 fb$^{-1}$ of $pp$ collision data at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The analysis is divided into two channels, targeting Higgs boson decays which are reconstructed as pairs of small-radius jets or as individual large-radius jets. Spin-0 and spin-2 benchmark signal models are considered, both of which correspond...
