Between Authorship and Oral Transmission: Negotiating the Attribution of Authorial, Oral and Collective Style Markers in Early Modern Playtexts

Lene Buhl Petersen
The production of playtexts in early modern England falls between two categories of artistic provenance: textual production in quill and print and oral transmission of the text committed to paper. Both categories are rightly speaking processes, and may be repeated several times over within the lifespan of a play. The former is the domain of authors, scribes and printers, the latter the responsibility of actors using their memories to verbally transmit the play in performance....

e-Research Summer Hackfest: The gLibrary framework

Antonio Calanducci
In this presentatiom we introduce gLibrary 2.0, a platform that permits to create REST APIs over existing databases or new datasets. It supports both relational and non-relational (i.e. schema-less) datasets. It also provides data storage services to Grid and Cloud (OpenStack-based) Storage Servers. After a general overview and the architecture, we will show live how to create a new repository, importing data collections from an existing database, creating new collections from scratch, make queries and...

Vendetta in the Seventeenth-Century Midi

Stuart Carroll
This paper discusses a previously unknown but potentially significant vendetta in the seventeenth-century French Midi. On 15 July 1674, François de Nogaret, vicomte de Trelans, was abducted by forty men from the parish church of La Bastide during mass; his killers subsequently murdered him. Within a month his killer, François de Sénégas, was himself killed in a revenge attack and his corpse burned. The story of the vendetta is important in itself, because the richness...

The Repast Infection Model was produced to demonstrate how scientists can use a science gateway to support Open Science. This dataset is the results of running "Experiment 1" with the model. The parameters are: Simulation Period (20), Recovered Count (0), Infected Count (20), Susceptible Count (2000).

Religion, depression and submissive behavior: an explorative study.

Leonardo Carlucci
Generally, depressed people tend to adopt submissive behavior, to have a low self-consideration in social comparison, which causes fear of a negative evaluation. A time-prolonged submission results into a development of depression. Likewise, from an evolutionary view, religious beliefs and attitudes have functional implications for social life: establishing and maintaining hierarchies, figures of power, and asymmetric relationships. All these implications accounted for submissive behavior in religious people. In this study, the link between depression, religious...

A logic-based approach to specify and design spatio-temporal behaviours of complex systems

Laura Nenzi
Models of complex systems, composed of many heterogeneous interacting components, are challenging to analyse, due to the size and complexity of the network of interactions among the individual entities. The analysis becomes even more challenging when the spatio-temporal aspects of the system are to be taken into account. In this thesis, we propose a framework of efficient techniques to validate and analyse the behaviour of complex systems with spatio-temporal dynamics, both in the stochastic and...

Crossing Borders

Riccardo Zipoli

Some of the typical features of the Iranian landscape are described, together with the ways in which the author came across them on his many journeys in Iran. The presence of the same features in other countries is then described as evidence of the universal nature of some elements of the Iranian landscape which, in this sense, extends outside the current borders. This theory is supported by 50 photos taken in Iran and in...

Anna di Danimarca e i ‘Queen’s Masques’ (1604-1611)

Caterina Pagnini
This essay offers a preliminary portrait of Anna of Denmark, queen of Scotland from 1589 for her marriage with James VI and queen of England, Scotland and Ireland for her husband’s accession to the throne as James I in 1603. Unjustly described by the anti-jacobean storiography as a vague character, changeable and superficial, extremely frivolous because of her interest in the court revels, Anna was instead an emblematic and eclectic personality, both in politics and...

O elogio do marxismo, em Graciliano Ramos

Marcos Falchero Falleiros
Palavras-chave: Graciliano Ramos; Literatura brasileira; Marxismo Abstract: The independent Marxism of Graciliano Ramos directs the construction of his literature, although not turning it into thesis novels. In an underlying and truly dialectical way,...
