Frustration of Purpose, Brexit, the COVID-19 Pandemic and Commercial Contracts

Mitja Kovač & Paul Albrecht
Lawyers and commercial contracting have been stressed by extraordinary uncertainty over the past four years. Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic’s uncertain outcomes and the debate on the appropriate application of the frustration doctrine represent one of the most challenging issues for contract law scholars and practitioners. This paper contributes to the extensive scholarly debate on whether Brexit and Covid-19 constitute frustration of purpose events in contracts by exploiting the findings of the economic literature on...

E-mailhilsner: Relation, variation og akkommodation

Marianne Rathje, Tina Thode Hougaard & Eva Skafte Jensen
In this paper, we present a study of how Danish language users choose to greet each other in emails. The study is based on an online survey with 1311 anonymous respondents. The study shows that the choice of greeting forms is no trivial matter but something that prompts much consideration. Greeting forms are expressions of phatic communication, but they are also signals of how the senders assess the relation between themselves and the receiver. As...

Value Co-Creation in Knowledge-Intensive Media Businesses: Conceptualizing the Integrative Dyadic-Triadic-Network-Knowledge Shop Framework

Melanie Herfort, Reinhard Kunz & Petra Düren
Purpose: This study develops a novel framework that illustrates how to better identify, understand, and stimulate dyadic, triadic, and network value co-creation in knowledge-intensive media businesses. It improves the conceptualization of model-based value co-creation among businesses and enhances the understanding of development frameworks by combining established strategic management and marketing concepts. Methodology: This research brings together two perspectives: a provider-centric strategic management knowledge shop (business characteristics) and a service logic-based dyadic-, triadic-, or network-integrated service...

Plandata for lokalplaner – et autoritativt datasæt?

Line Hvingel & Lasse Baaner

Assessing the impact of applying individual discount rates in power system expansion of Ecuador using OSeMOSYS

Roberto Heredia Fonseca & Francesco Gardumi
The development of the electricity supply sector needs data and energy system models to aid government instances to achieve optimal decision-making. Since 2006, Ecuador has faced gradual changes in the electricity sector and invested more than 11 billion dollars in expanding the generation. We use an open-source model generator in the present study and develop the first long-term generation expansion model for Ecuador. We select specific social and hurdle rates to represent the government's decision...

Balancing 'the heartless head and the headless heart'

Kristine Heimstad
Originally a master’s thesis, this narrowed-down article aims at examining the term sustainable immigration by applying it to a Norwegian context. It concludes that the term lacks value due to its vague nature and finds that it is difficult to measure. Further, by assessing Norwegian immigration policy in terms of sustainability, the article showcases that i) Norway rescues fragile societies from mass despair by providing humanitarian aid, but by doing so, it promotes brain drain;...

Sexual and Gender-Based Violence on Refugee Women’s Journeys

Emma Vinter
In the wake of the refugee ‘crisis’, an abundance of anti-refugee sentiments can be found in the mass media. Curiously, the focus is centred on men, and refugee women are largely ignored in the media, yet this is not the case in the academic literature. Through a literature review, I uncover that the agency of these women is often forgotten by scholars. Focusing on the refugee ‘crisis’, I explore the obstacles that refugee women face...

Hybrid warfare: weaponized migration on the eastern border of the EU?

Viesturs Berzins
After a forced landing of a Ryanair flight which was carrying a journalist and opposition activist highlighting the human rights violations in Belarus, the EU decided to expand the sanctions against the Belorussian regime. The sanctions have been increasing since the disputed re-election of President Alyaksandr Lukashenka. After the introduction of the last wave of sanctions, the Belarus-EU migrant crisis started. This article provides an overview of the migrant crisis on the Belorussian border with...
