Cost-effectiveness of stroke care in Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal patients: An observational cohort study in the Northern Territory of Australia

Y Zhao, S Guthridge, H Falhammar, H Flavell & Dominique Cadilhac
Objective To assess cost-effectiveness of stroke care for Aboriginal compared with non-Aboriginal patients in the Northern Territory (NT), Australia. Design Cost-effectiveness analysis using data from a cohort-based follow-up study of stroke incidents. Setting Public hospitals in the NT from 1992 to 2013. Participants Individual patient data were extracted and linked from the hospital inpatient and primary care information systems. Outcome measures Incremental cost-effectiveness ratios were calculated and assessed graphically. Survival time was used to measure...

Neurochemical and neuroanatomical plasticity following memory training and yoga interventions in older adults with mild cognitive impairment

H Yang, A M Leaver, P Siddarth, P Paholpak, L Ercoli, N M St. Cyr, Harris Eyre, K L Narr, D S Khalsa & H Lavretsky
Behavioral interventions are becoming increasingly popular approaches to ameliorate age-related cognitive decline, but their underlying neurobiological mechanisms and clinical efficiency have not been fully elucidated. The present study explored brain plasticity associated with two behavioral interventions, memory enhancement training (MET) and a mind-body practice (yogic meditation), in healthy seniors with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) using structural magnetic resonance imaging (s-MRI) and proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS). Senior participants (age =55 years) with MCI were randomized...

Migration of a SCADA system to IaaS clouds – a case study

P Church, H Mueller, C Ryan, S V Gogouvitis, A Goscinski & Z Tari
SCADA systems allow users to monitor and/or control physical devices, processes, and events remotely and in real-time. As these systems are critical to industrial processes, they are often run on highly reliable and dedicated hardware. Moving these SCADA systems to an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud allows for: cheaper deployments, system redundancy support, and increased uptime. The goal of this work was to present the results of our experimental study of moving/migrating a selected...

A major gap in the Plasmodium vivax elimination toolkit is the identification of individuals carrying clinically silent and undetectable liver-stage parasites, called hypnozoites. This study developed a panel of serological exposure markers capable of classifying individuals with recent P. vivax infections who have a high likelihood of harboring hypnozoites. We measured IgG antibody responses to 342 P. vivax proteins in longitudinal clinical cohorts conducted in Thailand and Brazil and identified candidate serological markers of exposure....

Zero Trust: The What, How, Why, and When

Malcolm Shore, S Zeadally & A Keshariya
Trust is a critical characteristic of computer systems, but the traditional approach of evaluating systems has failed to deliver the required levels of confidence. We review the emerging zero trust paradigm and propose a new set of zero trust tenets and an enhanced zero trust model.
