The Petrogenesis of the East Tasmania Terrane Devonian Granites. Appendix 5.1 Quartz O-isotopes SRM's and 5.3 Quartz Oxygen isotopes results.xlsx

These appendices contain magmatic quartz O isotope results for standard reference materials and for isolates from Tasmanian Devonian granites. The measurements were made by sensitive high resolution ion microprobe at Research School of Earth Sciences at Australian National University.

The Petrogenesis of the East Tasmania Terrane Devonian Granites. Appendix 4.8. Statistical modeling of results.

Statistical evidence of distinct subgroups in the O-Hf isotope data were determined by quadratic regression and exponential decay modeling of all data, modeling the separate subgroups interactions and using ANOVA to assess the interaction against the all-data model using R Version 3.6.2, 2019-12-12.

The strategic implications of perceived levels of ‘sea blindness’ in Australia’s LNG trade dynamic

PJ Martin
In what has been described as the Maritime Century, where the world’s oceans have become increasingly significant carriers of trade, the notion of ‘sea blindness’ is an interesting development. The term was first coined by the Royal Navy’s Admiral of the Fleet in the early 1980s ‘to reflect the apparent lack of political and public awareness of the importance of the use of the sea and the contribution of the Royal navy to their prosperity.’...

The Petrogenesis of the East Tasmania Terrane Devonian Granites. Appendix 6.6 Cathodoluminescence imaging of zircon

The dataset consists of PDF images of cathodoluminescent imaging of zircons isolated from Hogans Road diorite samples SH19CJ-008, -011, -015, -020, -026 and -029, from granodiorite immediately adjacent the diorite suite in the Haleys New Country pluton SH19CJ-010 and -020 and regional granodiorites LP19CJ001 (Long Point) and SH19CJ005 (Beauty Point).

The Petrogenesis of the East Tasmania Terrane Devonian Granites. Appendix 6.3 Geochemistry results, Appendix 6.4Hbl and Pl EMPA, Appendix 6.5 Lu-Hf SRM's and data.

Hogans Road diorite major and trace element geochemistry, hornblende and plagioclase mineral chemistry, and zircon Lu and Hf isotope data.

Health economic consequences of Multiple Sclerosis in Australia

H Ahmad
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a complex autoimmune/neurodegenerative disease in which the myelin sheath covering nerve fibres in the central nervous system (brain, optic nerves and spinal cord) is damaged, leading to increasing disability over time, which in turn, negatively impacts individuals’ health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and poses a significant economic burden to patients and society in terms of both direct (healthcare) and indirect costs (from lost productivity). Whilst some past studies have investigated the...

Prevalence of data-limited fisheries in Australia and options to improve their management

NJ Hill
The majority of the world’s fisheries lack the data and/or management capacity (e.g. personnel, funding) to implement robust fisheries management. Where this is the case, fisheries are more likely to perform poorly in terms of sustainability. Robust fisheries management has been found to be instrumental in reducing fishing mortality and allowing stocks to recover, and includes attributes such as analytical stock assessments, the ability to control fishing pressure, and comprehensive compliance programs. With the prevalence...

Bridging the divide between remote sensing and forest ecological restoration : applications for effectiveness monitoring

N Camarretta
With recent innovations in remote sensing technology allowing the acquisition of ultrahigh-resolution data over large areas, there are now unprecedented opportunities to address key issues in restoration ecology. Among these issues is detecting change in forest restoration plantings through the monitoring of restoration success and structural complexity. With the possibility of individual tree resolution, the utility of such technology to also detect differences among species and provenances is only now starting to be investigated. Such...

Sex differentiation and determination in the invasive fish, Gambusia holbrooki

SE Mousavi
The eastern mosquitofish, Gambusia holbrooki, is a freshwater viviparous fish that originates from North America. This along with its sister species G. affinis, were introduced throughout the world (i.e., over 110 countries), including Australia as mosquito control agents. Due to their high adaptability and tolerance, they have rapidly established populations in new ecosystems and caused decline in native aquatic fauna through competition and predation. For example, in Australia, G. holbrooki has been implicated in the...

Effect of genetic print and phenotypic print of Salmonella enterica in a quantitative risk assessment for the consumption of food in the central region of Mexico

A Godínez Oviedo
Quantitative Microbiological Risk Assessment (QMRA) is a tool used to determine the risk of a particular pathogen quantitatively. This research aimed to evaluate the genotypic print (GP) and phenotypic print (PP) intra-species variability of Salmonella food isolates (FI) and include them in a QMRA for the central region of Mexico population. Samples of chicken (354), mango (300), and tomato (272) were collected in Aguascalientes, Jalisco, and Querétaro. The prevalence and concentration of Salmonella in chicken...

Shapeshifting : a grounded theory of contemporary songwriters’ career constructions

TL Broad
This thesis examines the career constructions of contemporary Australians working as collaborative songwriters and music producers, conflated under the term, “backroom writers”, in the global music industry. Working in teams behind the scenes to create songs for, and with, prominent recording artists, backroom songwriters power the entire production chain in popular music (Bennett, 2013). A crucial context for this project is the music industry’s so-called “digital disruption”, the process of globalisation and technological change that...

Associations between brain structure, cognition and gait in older people

O Jayakody
Background: Dementia and falls are significant causes of disability among older people. Identifying people at risk of dementia and falls is an international priority to prevent the rising burden of these syndromes. Gait is a robust marker of functional independence. Poorer gait performance precedes dementia symptoms and is associated with greater risks of falls. Therefore, gait could be a useful functional marker to identify people at risk of dementia and falls from an early stage....

Virtues-based leadership development: a conceptual analysis and evaluation of The Virtues Project

Tobias Newstead
There is no doubt that leadership within the organizational context is important. A booming leadership development industry and an exponentially expanding leadership literature attest to this. However, ethical and corporate scandals continue to make headlines, and many can relate to the experience of working for uninspiring or even abusive leaders. This suggests we scholars have further work to do in our efforts to improve the practice of leadership. Of particular interest is how we might...

The pharmacological management of pain in older Australians

Felicity Veal
Nearly all humans experience acute pain during their lives. Generally, acute pain is short lived, however, up to 20% of adults globally suffer from persistent pain. This prevalence increases with age with up to 50% of elderly people in the community setting and 80% in aged care facilities (ACFs) experiencing persistent pain. Pain, whether acute or persistent can create a significant burden and cost to the patient and society as a whole, through reduced work...
