Water Evaporation Coefficient

Rachael Miles, Allen Haddrell & Jonathan Reid
The kinetics of water droplet evaporation have been measured using a cylindrical electrodynamic balance, recording the evolving size of droplets over time. Measurements have been made over a range of temperatures extending from 248 to 293 K. From these data, the vapour pressure of water (including under super-cooled conditions) has been inferred. A constraint has also been placed on the value of the evaporation coefficient. This work was undertaken as part of the NERC grant...

Universality in Ant Behaviour

Nigel Franks, Ana Sendova-Franks & Kim Christensen
This dataset comprises 101 plain text files each containing the track data for one of the individual ants studied in the paper. The name of each file starts with the colony number (C1 to C3), the size of nest (small:35x28 mm or large: 55x44 mm) and the consecutive number of the individual ant for a colony and nest size. The ant track-data in each file are organised in three columns: Column 1: Time in seconds...

This dataset was uploaded as a test case only and has been superseded by DOI: 10.5523/bris.1oio9r9fm8byb1ia7mtv0sct0t. The dataset contains video sequences generated by the Visual Information Laboratory for encoding purposes, shot in 4K 120fps using a RED Epic camera. The sequences are 10secs each and are available in .mov format.

Marine fats in ancient pots IRMS

Lucy Cramp, Richard Evershed & Helen Whelton
The transition from hunter-forager-fishing to Neolithic farming is arguably one of the most significant transformations in our prehistoric past, having a profound and lasting impact. The northwest European archipelago, far from the cradle of agriculture in the Levant, displays elements of the Neolithic package only by ca.4000 BC. Evidence from coastal locations raised the intriguing possibility that Mesolithic fishing practices were abruptly replaced by terrestrial resources shortly thereafter. Our investigation of organic residues from >1000...

Supplementary files for the rotational analysis of the 2nu5 band of formaldehyde

Colin Western, , , &
The files available here allow the energy level and intensity calculations and fits on the 2nu5 band of HCHO described in "Rotational analysis of the 2nu5 Band of Formaldehyde", S Saha, H Barry, G Hancock, GAD Ritchie and CM Western,. Molecular Physics, 105, 2007, p. 797 – 805 to be carried out using the PGOPHER program, as used in the original study. For details on the PGOPHER program, see http://pgopher.chm.bris.ac.uk

BBSRC work

Christine Nicol & Anna Davies
The data produced by this project will be behavioural and physiological measures of reactions shown by hens living in different environments. These data will be thermal images, logged physiological and physical condition data, behavioural data recorded on digital video, and results from preference and cognitive bias tests. In line with the BBSRC Statement on Safeguarding Good Scientific Practice the above data will be retained for a period of ten years after completion of the project....

PGOPHER is a general purpose program for simulating and fitting rotational, vibrational and electronic spectra. Included here are executables, source code, documentation and sample files for version 8.0.102 of the PGOPHER program. This archive also includes older versions of the program for reference. Please also see the program web site, http://pgopher.chm.bris.ac.uk/. The program is open source, and covered by the LGPL. The documentation and other files are covered by the University of Bristol repository's Non-Commercial...

Bristol Egocentric Object Interactions Dataset

Dima Damen
The wearable gaze tracker hardware (ASL Mobile Eye XG) was used to collect Egocentric video with synchronised gaze for multiple operators around a common environment. After calibration, the scene images are synchronised with, if available, 2D gaze points. Six locations were chosen: kitchen (K), workspace (W), laser printer (P), corridor with a locked door (D), cardiac gym (G) and weight-lifting machine (M) (Fig. 3). For the first four locations (K, W, P, D), sequences from...
