Low-altitude unmanned aerial vehicles for the rapid and high-resolution determination of contamination

Peter Martin
Poster presentation at the 2016 Defence and Security Doctoral Symposium. Following the events of March 2011 at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (FDNPP), a considerable quantity of radiation was released into the local Japanese as well as the global environment. Much work and expense is currently being devoted to the remediation of a large area of eastern Japan contaminated primarily by radiocaesium. Due to the complex nature of the environment affected by the release,...

This is the version 1 edition

108.5 LPG with 500 overwrite 5s cycles

Matthew Partridge
Spectras recorded during the formation of an LPG using the overwrite fabrication method. The LPG was 2cm long
The LPGs were prepared with a 5second exposure time over repeated cycles. Each spectra was taken after a single cycle up to a total to 500 cycles.
The tracked data for the various LP modes is also included.

Shoe Lab White Paper

Mariale Moreno, Fiona Charnley, Daniel Keely & Nick Liddell
This is a White Paper produced in collaboration between Cisco, Cranfield University and brand consultancy The Clearing. It Builds on research carried out by RECODE-NETWORK identifying and evaluating the opportunities a re-distributed production model offers to disrupt traditional industry models when combined with big data. The results presented are clear recommendations for manufacturers to realise potential of RdM to meet changing consumer needs and help curtail today’s disposable culture.

Abbas Fotouhi & Daniel Auger
This metadata item is for the paper "Accuracy Versus Simplicity in Online Battery Model Identification" accepted for publication in the IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics%3A Systems on July 27, 2016.

All data generated in this study is included within the paper itself. Please contact researchdata@cranfield.ac.uk with any queries.

All LPG turning points from 100 to 200um

James Barrington & Matthew Partridge
This ZIP file contains a number of folders containing labelled with and LPG period number. Each folder then contains 5+ scans taken during fabrication of that particular period LPG. Each scan consists of a set of wavelengths and intensities recorded as an average of 10 scans.
This is the raw data associated with our paper 'Overwrite fabrication and tuning of Long Period Gratings'
Also includes a GIF showing the development of this data with each successive cycle.

'Taking the heat' - developing propellants for high-temperature applications

Yahaya Mohammed
3MT (three minute thesis) presented at the 2016 Defence and Security Doctoral Symposium.
Since the early 1800s, nitrocellulose (NC) based propellants have gained popularity due to their low cost, ease of manufacture, and good ballistics. Vehicle airbags, small arms ammunition, aircraft ejection seat, tactical missiles and short to medium range rockets are some of the areas where NC propellants have been applied. Typical homogenous NC-based propellants depending on the energetic constituents are classified as single,...

Poster%3A A Fresh Look at Optical Interferometry

Thomas Kissinger
Poster%0Apresented by Thomas Kissinger at Set for Britain 2016 event in the UK%0Aparliament on 07.03.2016.
%0A
%0AAbstract%3A%0A%0AOptical%0Ainterferometry is a widely used technique for ultra-precision distance%0Ameasurements in many areas of science and technology, enabling fundamental%0Aphysical experiments, such as the hunt for gravitational waves, and%0Aunderpinning important industrial technologies, such as semiconductor%0Afabrication. My particular research deals with the question on how multiple%0Ameasurements at different points can be taken simultaneously using only one%0Ainstrument. This can be achieved by appropriately modulating...

Baseband version of the bat-inspired spectrogram correlation and transformation receiver

Krasin Georgiev
Poster presentation at the 2016 Defence and Security Doctoral Symposium.Echolocating bats have evolved an excellent ability to detect, resolve and discriminate targets in highly challenging environments. They have had more than 50 million years of evolution to optimise their echolocation system and behavioural experiments have shown their exceptional ability to detect and classify targets even in highly cluttered surroundings. Behavioural experiments have demonstrated that bats are able to resolve closely located scatterers: • a two-point...
