Data used in paper 'An Assessment of Algorithms to Estimate Respiratory Rate from the Electrocardiogram and Photoplethysmogram'
Lionel Tarassenko, David A. Clifton & Peter J. Watkinson
This dataset contains electrocardiogram (ECG), photoplethysmogram (PPG), Impedance Pneumography (imp) and reference oral-nasal pressure (paw) signals acquired from young subjects (aged 18-39). Data were acquired for approximately 10 minutes while lying supine at rest. Following this subjects were asked to run on a treadmill (data are not provided from this period). Data were then collected during a second recording period whilst subjects recovered from the exercise, lying supine once again. An example of the signals...

Data used in paper Extraction of respiratory signals from the electrocardiogram and photoplethysmogram - technical and physiological determinants
University Of Oxford Tarassenko Lionel, University Of Oxford Clifton David A. & Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Watkinson Peter J.
This dataset contains electrocardiogram (ECG), photoplethysmogram (PPG), Impedance Pneumography (imp) and reference oral-nasal pressure (paw) signals acquired from young subjects (aged 18-39) and elderly subjects (aged 70+). Data were acquired for approximately 10 minutes while lying supine at rest. This dataset is intended to facilitate evaluation of the performance of algorithms for estimation of respiratory rate (RR) from the ECG and PPG. It can also be used to evaluate the influence of technical and physiological...

Activity Recognition with Wearable Sensors on Loose Clothing
Brendan Michael
This research (DOI:10.1371/journal.pone.0184642) investigates if motion artefacts inherent in fabric-based sensing systems (e-textiles), can be exploited as an additional source of information in statistical classification tasks. The findings in the corresponding paper suggest that these artefacts can, in fact, be used to distinguish between similar motions, by exploiting additional information provided by the fabric motion. An experimental study is presented whereby factors of both the motion and the properties of the fabric are analysed in...
