Social workers' knowledge and skills and the Care Act: Practice Advice Note
Angela Jenkinson & John Chamberlain
The need for a practice advice note on the roles of social workers in the Care Act was identified by the Chief Social Worker and was reinforced by a consultation with 140 social workers, who agreed the general content of this advice.
The Advice Note identifies social workers as being fundamental to the achievability of the Care Act because they are registered as having the knowledge and skills to achieve changes to protect, safeguard, promote...

The Gascon Rolls CKAN Dataset makes available the following resources:
- The set of rolls in TEI-XML format;
- An Eatsml file in XML containing the set of entity records (for persons, places, etc.) out of which the indexes and search available on the project site are generated;
- The project guidelines for encoding the calendared versions of the rolls into TEI-XML.

Bobby Duffy, Kirstie Hewlett & George Murkin
This analysis by the Policy Institute at King’s College London reveals the extent of divisions in Britain during the 2019 general election campaign.
Using data from a survey of over 2,000 adults conducted between 27 and 29 November, the analysis finds that people’s Brexit identities have grown stronger, that opposing groups have very negative views of each other and the two main parties’ leaders, and that there are widespread misperceptions about how the “other side”...

The use of surface electromyography (sEMG) for the detection of heel-strike and toe-off is investigated in order to control the knee joint of passive KAFOs. This has the potential to allow for the knee joint to bend during the swing and to lock during the stance of the supported leg. sEMG and motion capture experiments are run in India on three healthy participants were they are asked to perform a normal gait in a straight...
Data files for survey into 'Attitudes towards digital culture and technology in the Modern Languages'
Paul Spence & Renata Brandao
This dataset includes the results of a survey carried out in 2018, the first in a series of landscaping exercises cataloguing interactions between digital culture and modern languages. The survey analyses the impact of ‘digital’ on modern languages across a wide range of factors, including: general digital engagement; digital methods/platforms; digital literacies/pedagogies; and experiences with digital publishing/digital research materials. It captures views from people involved in modern (foreign) languages in various ways (including roles as...

Katherine Howells
This data was collected and analysed as part of a PhD thesis submitted in February 2019. The PhD research was concerned with understanding the role of Ministry of Information images in British cultural memory and, through the use of surveys, interviews and reverse image lookup, investigated how the images were remembered, interpreted and used online. The data consists of six files. The first includes demographic details of participants who took part in a Mass Observation...

The Project
A fine in the reign of King of England Henry III (1216–1272) was an agreement to pay the king a sum of money for a specified concession. The rolls on which the fines were recorded provide the earliest systematic evidence of what people and institutions across society wanted from the king and he was prepared to give. They open a large window onto the politics, government, economy and society of England in the...

This is a digital data used to create the maps of the ILRI research farm 'Kapiti Ranch' in 2018. Mapping was carried out on aerial photos taken in 2014 and then updated using high resolution satellite images captured in 2018. Watercourse mapping was carried out using a LiDAR derived digital terrain model also captured in 2014. Note that only within the farm borders is fully mapped. The area around the borders is given for context...
Data for paper 'Hand-made embroidered electromyography towards a solution for low-income countries'
Samuel Pitou
PLEASE NOTE: AN UPDATED VERSION OF THIS DATASET HAS BEEN PUBLISHED AT http://doi.org/doi:10.18742/RDM01-597This study presents the first work into the hand-sewing of electrodes for surface electromyography to assess its feasibility as an affordable, alternative means of production. In experiments reported here, batches of hand-sewn electrodes from Nm = 6 novice embroiderers are tested for (i) manufacturing consistency, and (ii) myographic data acquisition against conventional gelled and machine-sewn electrodes.

Learning Singularity Avoidance - Data using a real world 7 link sawyer robot and simulated 3 link planar system
Jeevan Manavalan
This dataset contains both real world and simulated data. The real world data consists of 50 trajectories of 7DOF Jointspace data recorded kinaesthetically using the Sawyer robot. Each demonstration has 1) a task space component where the sawyer moves from a starting position to anywhere on a drawer and 2) a null space component where the system is closing the drawer. The constraint in the null space limits movement of the system to the x-axis....
The English and Romanian Adoptees Brain Imaging Study – Alterations in adult brain structure associated with early childhood deprivation
Nuria Mackes, Dennis Golm, Sagari Sarkar, Robert Kumsta, Graeme Fairchild, Mitul Mehta, Edmund Sonuga Barke & The ERA Young Adult Follow-Up Team
The English and Romanian Adoptees Brain Imaging Study investigates the effects of early institutional deprivation on brain structure in young adulthood. This study analysed MRI data of young adults, who were exposed to severe deprivation in early childhood in the Romanian orphanages of the Ceaușescu era before being adopted by UK families. This dataset contains brain structural summary data of 67 Romanian adoptees and 21 non-deprived UK adoptees. Additionally, this dataset contains information on neurodevelopmental...
