Spatial contiguity determines overshadowing between global-shape representations and stimulus-response associations in human navigation

Gonzalo Urcelay
Recent failures to observe cue competition in different preparations, together with the long-standing debate about competition phenomena in the spatial learning literature, have casted doubts on their generality. A recent study (Herrera et al., in press) suggested that strong goal-landmark contiguity might be a critical factor for competition to occur in human spatial navigation. This study aimed to extend those findings and evaluate the effect of goal-landmark contiguity together with variations in the starting-point locations,...

Ink-jet 3D printing as a strategy for developing bespoke non-eluting biofilm resistant medical devices

Yinfeng He
Chronic infection as a result of bacterial biofilm formation on implanted medical devices is a major global healthcare problem requiring new biocompatible, biofilm-resistant materials. Here we demonstrate how bespoke devices can be manufactured through ink-jet-based 3D printing using bacterial biofilm inhibiting formulations without the need for eluting antibiotics or coatings. Candidate monomers were formulated and their processability and reliability demonstrated. Formulations for in vivo evaluation of the 3D printed structures were selected on the basis...

Functional characterization of DEEPGENES to enhance deeper rooting in cereal crops

Fusi Riccardo
Global food security and climate change represent major challenges faced by humankind during this century. Developing deeper rooting, more resource efficient crops represents an attractive solution to increase crop production sustainably whilst also enhancing soil carbon (C) sequestration. For example, planting maize varieties with a root system 0.5m deeper than currently sown in USA is predicted to improve foraging for water and nitrogen resources in sub-soil layers whilst burying up to two thirds of carbon...

Roda Madziva
The weakness of the data relates to its relevance and the purpose to which it was originally collected. Both data sets were primarily gathered for a different purpose, than the objectives of the current project. This therefore means that the data doesn’t provide a comprehensive story as it represents one’s lived experiences

Exploring the role of digital media for parents in diverse family groups

Jai Mackenzie
These data consist of 27 interview transcripts, collected as part of a study titled 'Marginalised families online: Exploring the role of digital media for parents in diverse family groups'. Nine UK-based participants took part in the study. The participants were all single and/or LGBT parents who had used adoption, donor conception, or co-parenting arrangements to bring children into their lives. A brief summary of each participant's circumstances and demographic information is provided at the start...

Aquatic invertebrate communities and Pb body burdens at abandoned Pb mine sites

Andrea Sartorius
This dataset contains the raw data for the aquatic invertebrate communities and Pb body burdens, as found during this study. The invertebrates were sampled from streams in abandoned Pb mine sites and in nearby control sites. The communities were identified to genus level (when possible), while the Pb body burdens were determined based on invertebrate families.
