DrupalCon -- Survival kit for CERN's organic webscape: Kubernetes and a community of Makers

Konstantinos Samaras-Tsakiris, Catharine Noble, Francisco Borges Aurindo Barros & Vineet Reddy Rajula
Presentation at DrupalCon EU 2021.

How can we turn a "chore" into a community of makers, in a scientific Organization that doesn't enforce strict standards? Drupal has a long history at CERN. Site builders of >1k unique websites take advantaged of a highly automated, but bespoke infrastructure, that manages website lifecycle: provisioning, updates, backups, cloning, deleting. Relying on direct support through tickets worked, until Drupal 7 migrations overloaded the support lines, while engineers constantly...

Jacques Herve Fichet
Before becoming a co-founder of Syte, I was a physicist. I studied at the "Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universitaet Bonn" in Germany. Afterwards I moved to CERN for a fellowship where in addition to my work on Triple-Gauge-Boson couplings with the OPAL collaboration I also joined CMS to learn about silicon hardware. After my fellowship I joined LHCb with the EPFL in Lausanne, finally really getting my hands onto silicon micro-strip detectors. I stayed with the LHCb Silicon...
