Leesbaarheidsindex voor het Nederlands

S Kleijn

This dataset contains approximately 60 hours of recordings from a prototype chewing detection system. The sensor signals include photoplethysmography (PPG) and processed audio from the ear-worn chewing sensor, and signals from a belt-mounted 3D accelerometer. The recording sessions include 14 participants and were conducted in the context of the EU funded SPLENDID project, at Wageningen University, The Netherlands, during the summer of 2015. The purpose of the dataset is to help develop effective algorithms for...

Preparing for an orthopedic consultation using an eHealth tool: a randomized controlled trial in patients with hip and knee osteoarthritis

A.A.O.M. Claassen
The effect of a stand-alone mobile and web-based educational intervention (eHealth tool) compared to usual preparation of a first orthopedic consultation of patients with hip or knee osteoarthritis (OA) on patients’ satisfaction was evaluated. A two-armed randomized controlled trial was performed, involving 286 patients with (suspicion of) hip or knee OA, randomly allocated to either receiving an educational eHealth tool to prepare their upcoming consultation (n=144) or usual care (n=142). Satisfaction with the consultation on...

A modified model for estimating tree height from PolInSAR with compensation for temporal decorrelation

N Ghasemi
This chapter is based on the published paper: Ghasemi, N., Tolpekin, V. and Stein, A., (2018). A modified model for estimating tree height from PolInSAR with compensation for temporal decorrelation. International Journal of Applied Earth Observation and Geoinformation, 73, pp.313–322. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0303243418302563?via%3Dihub The dataset has been acquired by European Space Agency in the context of BioSAR2010 campaign conducted on Southwest Sweden by airborne SAR sensor and extensive field research. The RMoG (Random-Motion-over-Ground) model is commonly used...

Validating the Predictive Power of Statistical Models in Retrieving Leaf Dry Matter Content of a Coastal Wetland from a Sentinel-2 Image

A. M. Ali
we assessed the performance of partial least squares regression (PLSR) plus 11 widely used vegetation indices (VIs), calculated based on different combinations of Sentinel-2 bands, in predicting LDMC in a coastal wetland. The accuracy of the selected methods was validated using LDMC, destructively measured in randomly distributed sample plots at the study site in Schiermonnikoog, the Netherlands.

A view on critical oxygen delivery values during cardiopulmonary bypass

R.H.J. Hendrix
Abstract Introduction: Low oxygen delivery during cardiopulmonary bypass is related to a range of adverse outcomes. Previous research specified certain critical oxygen delivery levels associated with acute kidney injury. However, a single universal critical oxygen delivery value is not sensible, as oxygen consumption has to be considered when determining critical delivery values. This study examined the associations between oxygen delivery, oxygen consumption and kidney function in patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass. Methods. Oxygen delivery, oxygen consumption...

MASSIVE: Model Assessment and Stochastic Search for Instrumental Variable Estimation

I.G. Bucur, T. Claassen & T.M. Heskes
The recent availability of huge, many-dimensional data sets, like those arising from genome-wide association studies (GWAS), provides many opportunities for strengthening causal inference. One popular approach is to utilize these many-dimensional measurements as instrumental variables (instruments) for improving the causal effect estimate between other pairs of variables. Unfortunately, searching for proper instruments in a many-dimensional set of candidates is a daunting task due to the intractable model space and the fact that we cannot directly...

BayesMR: A Bayesian Mendelian Randomization Approach

I.G. Bucur, T. Claassen & T.M. Heskes
The use of genetic variants as instrumental variables – an approach known as Mendelian randomization – is a popular epidemiological method for estimating the causal effect of an exposure (phenotype, biomarker, risk factor) on a disease or health-related outcome from observational data. Instrumental variables must satisfy strong, often untestable assumptions, which means that finding good genetic instruments among a large list of potential candidates is challenging. This difficulty is compounded by the fact that many...
