The dataset contains meteorological information from the period 1880-1900 extracted from three Romanian newspapers (România Liberă, Gazeta de Transilvania and Foaia Poporului). Each entry represents a meteorological event, with its metadata and characteristics (date, location, category, impact, validation). Validation consisted in checking the consistency of the newspaper reports with meteorological observations from weather stations.

Global distribution of nearshore slopes

Global nearshore slope estimations using an interpolated MERIT+GEBCO merged dataset with the Open Street Maps (OSM) coastline as Mean Sea Level (MSL). The slope was calculated from elevation profiles that were created by transects perpendicular to the OSM coastline, positioned every 1 km in the alongshore direction. The depths of closure that were used for the slope estimation are also provided.
