Related Data for: What determines teachers’ use of motivational strategies in the classrooms? A self-determination theory perspective

Woon Chia Liu, Chee Keng John Wang, Johnmarshall Reeve, Ying Hwa Kee & Lit Khoon Chian
This study examined the antecedents of teachers’ use of motivational strategies in the classroom using self-determination theory. It was found that teachers’ autonomous causality orientation, perceived job pressure, and perception of student self-determined motivation influenced their need satisfaction. In turn, their need satisfaction had a positive direct impact on autonomous motivation. In addition, teachers’ perception of their students’ self-determined motivation directly predicted teachers’ use of three motivational strategies in the classroom. Finally, their autonomous motivation...

Related Data for: A longitudinal study on starting teachers’ retention intentions: Do pre-teaching work experience and length of working years make a difference?

Anne Lin Goodwin, Ee Ling Low, Li Cai & Alexander Seeshing Yeung
This 4-wave longitudinal study examined how starting teachers' retention intentions changed over three years. One-way repeated-measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) found a significant main effect of time on retention intention. Two-way ANOVA also showed a significant main effect of pre-teaching work experience, and years of work experience on retention intention. However, there was no significant interaction effect between time and pre-teaching work experience, and between time and years of prior work experience. These findings suggest...

Related Data for: Influence of shoe midsole hardness on plantar pressure distribution in four basketball-related movements

Wing Kai Lam, Wei Xuan Ng & Pui Wah Kong
This study examined how shoe midsole hardness influenced plantar pressure in basketball-related movements. Twenty male university basketball players wore customized shoes with hard and soft midsoles (60 and 50 Shore C) to perform four movements: running, maximal forward sprinting, maximal 45° cutting and layup. Plantar loading was recorded using an in-shoe pressure measuring system, with peak pressure (PP) and pressure time integral (PTI) extracted from 10 plantar regions. Compared with hard shoes, subjects exhibited lower...

Replication Data for: Mesoporous Titanium Oxynitride Monoliths from Block Directed Self-Assembly of Metal−Urea Additives

Kwan Wee Tan
Abstract: This report describes a simple one-pot soft-templating and ammonolysis-free approach to synthesize mesoporous crystalline titanium oxynitride by combining block copolymer-directed self-assembly with metal sol and urea precursors. The Pluronic F127 triblock copolymer was employed to structure-direct titanium-oxo-acetate sol nanoparticles and urea–formaldehyde into ordered hybrid mesostructured monoliths. The hybrid composites were directly converted into mesoporous crystalline titanium oxynitride and retained macroscale monolithic integrity up to 800 °C under nitrogen. Notably, the urea–formaldehyde additive provided nitrogen...

Replication data for: Northern Sangtam phonetics, phonology and word list (Dataset AC4-20110704_NSA1)

Alexander R. Coupe
This dataset (AC4-20110704_NSA1) contains transcribed word lists and accompanying sound files in Northern Sangtam (ISO 639–3: nsa), an Aoic language spoken in central Nagaland, Northeast India. The word list is based on the elicited data of a 66-year-old native speaker and constitutes the replication data for Coupe, Alexander R. (2020) Northern Sangtam phonetics, phonology and word list, Linguistics of the Tibeto-Burman Area 43:1, pp. 148–189. This paper presents a comprehensive phonetic and phonological description of...

RNA-sequencing data of Balb/c involuting mammary gland treated with anti-Ly6G antibody and estrogen

Chew Leng Lim
Female Balb/c mice were oxvariectomed at lactation day 2, pups forced weaned at lactation day 12 to initiate mammary involution. At 24 hours post-weaning, mice were treated with anti-Ly6G antibodies or isotype control. At 48 hours post-weaning, mice were treated with 20µg/kg of body weight estrogen or vehicle control. Mice sacrificed after 24 hours estrogen treatment and mammary sample collected and frozen. Mammary samples were extracted for total RNA using Trizol reagen and then treated...

Green Grass Park - Picture Description

Lei Pan, Seraphina Fong & Suzy J Styles
In the domain of speech elicitation, it is well understood that participants speak differently when producing different kinds of speech. In particular, speakers tend to use more ‘standard’ pronunciations when reading individual words in isolation, as compared to reading words within the context of a sentence, or talking freely off-the-cuff (Labov, 1966). When speakers have a complex task to achieve (e.g., describing everything they can see in a complex picture, speakers typically monitor their speech...
