Molecular characterisation of cortical neurons is important to understand their structure and function in brain microcircuits. Molecular data were collected by using immunofluorescence staining of Forkhead box protein P2 (FoxP2) and M4 muscarinic receptor (M4R) in patch-clamped layer 6 neurons using acutely prepared primary somatosensory (barrel) cortical slices. These data could be reused for comparing with other single-cell mRNA sequencing data.
