Temperature data from Climate Scenarios for Nepal (NAP)

This is the ensemble average annual mean temperature data from 1981 to 2100 for 77 districts of Nepal. This data was prepared using four RCP4.5 and four RCP8.5 models with spatial coverage of whole Nepal at 10 km by 10 km resolution. It also contains the standard deviation to show the variability among the models in each RCP.

Glaciers of Afghanistan 1990

Glacier data of Afghanistan was prepared based on Landsat imageries of 1990. The glacier outlines were derived semi-automatically using object-based image classification (OBIC ) separately for clean-ice and debris-covered glaciers and further manual editing for quality assurance. The attribute of glacier data were derived from SRTM DEM. This data was jointly prepared by the Ministry of Energy and Water (MEW), Afghanistan and Cryosphere team of ICIMOD with the support of SERVIR HKH.

This is the inventory of glacial lakes in the Nepal Himalaya. The inventory is prepared using Landsat satellite images of 2005/2006 and gives the distribution of glacial lakes at the sub-basin level. It also contains information about three potentially dangerous lakes based on their field investigation, along with the prioritization of critical lakes.

The comprehensive baseline information on the glaciers of the HKH region was generated semi-automatically using more than 200 Landsat 7 ETM+ images of 2005 ± 3 years with minimum cloud and snow coverage. The glacier outlines were derived by using object-based image classification method separately for clean-ice and debris-covered glaciers with some manual intervention. The attribute data were assigned to each glacier using 90m resolution SRTM DEM. This data does not cover the China part.

The Status of Glacial Lakes in the Hindu Kush Himalaya

The comprehensive baseline information on the glacial lakes of the Hindu Kush Himalaya was generated semi-automatically using more than 200 Landsat 5 TM and Landsat 7 ETM+ images of 2005 ± 2 years with minimum cloud and snow coverage. The glacial lakes were mapped by using band ratio threshold condition method and some manual intervention. The attribute data were assigned using 90m resolution SRTM DEM.
