DEEPSTORM (DEEP moiSt aTmospheric cOnvection with micRowave radioMeter)

Jean-François Rysman, Patrick Raberantp, Chantal Claud & Beatriz Funatsu
The DEEPSTORM dataset contains daily, mensual and annual occurrences of deep moist atmospheric convection, rain and hail from 1999 to present with a resolution of 0.2°x0.2° between 60°S and 60°N. Convection, rain and hail occurrences are identified using observations from AMSU-B and MHS passivemicrowave radiometers. References : Hong G, Heygster G, Miao J, Kunzi K. 2005. Monthly Iorg index of deep convective organization across the tropical belt (30S-30N)

Sandrine Bony & Addisu Gezahegn Semie
Monthly-mean Iorg index of deep convective organization computed over the tropical belt (30S- 30N) for the period January 1990 to December 2017. The Iorg index is computed by comparing the cumulative density function of the nearest-neighbor distances between deep convective centroids to that expected for a random distribution associated with a Poisson process. The deep convective centroids are identified from 3-hourly GridSat geostationary data using the local minima method. The monthly-mean Iorg is the monthly...

Martian Year 34 Climatology of the Atmospheric Column Dust Optical Depth

Luca Montabone, Ehouarn Millour, François Forget, Aymeric Spiga , David Kass & Armin Kleinböhl
We provide a climatology of airborne dust for Martian year 34 using observations of the Martian atmosphere from May 2016 to March 2018 made by the Mars Climate Sounder (MCS) aboard Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO). Our methodology works by gridding the available estimates of column dust optical depth (CDOD) from MCS limb observations. The resulting (irregularly) gridded maps were validated with independent observations of CDOD by the Mars Color Imager camera aboard MRO, and by...
