Isotopic and Geochemical Signatures of Mantle and Crustal Contributions in Rhyolites from Okataina and Taupo volcanoes, New Zealand

Nicole Rocco
Silicic caldera-forming eruptions are some of the largest and most destructive volcanic eruptions known, and present significant local and global hazards. The underlying processes within crustal magma plumbing systems that lead to the accumulation and eruption of large volumes of evolved magma remain enigmatic, yet there is broad consensus that interaction between mantle-derived magmas and surrounding crust is crucial to the generation of many silicic magmas. Constraining these processes are key to understanding the evolution...

Seventy-six responses were submitted to the survey. While the responses came from a wide range of demographies, respondents were most commonly men, age 35-44, with professional degrees working as practitioners in consulting firms. The most frequent respondents work in engineering or engineering geomorphology in the...

Development syndromes in New World temperate and tropical songbirds

Suzanne Austin, W. Douglas Robinson, Tara Rodden Robinson & Robert E. Ricklefs
We studied avian development in 49 species of temperate and 153 species of tropical New World passerine birds to determine how growth rates, and incubation and nestling periods, varied in relation to other life-history traits. We collected growth data and generated unbiased mass and tarsus growth rate estimates (mass n = 92 species, tarsus n = 49 species), and measured incubation period (n = 151) and nestling period (n = 153), which we analyzed with...

Ivanka Semerdjieva, Galya Petrova, Elina Yankova-Tsvetkova, Tsvetelina Doncheva, Nadezhda Kostova, Nikolova & Valtcho D. Zheljazkov
This data includes studies on three endemic species of Alkanet, Alkanna (Alkanna primuliflora, A. stribrnyi and A. graeca) from the family Boraginacea, distributed in Bulgaria. We have presented raw data (photographs, chromatograms and graphs) from embryological, genetic and phytochemical studies. The three Alkanna species are Balkan endemics and have a limited distribution on the Balkan Peninsula. The limited distribution of the species is often associated with problems in the reproductive capacity of the species, which...
