(Table 2a) Determination of ligand characteristics in unfiltered samples taken during POLARSTERN expedition ARK-XXII/2 - determination of an upper limit using total dissolvable iron

Charles-Edouard Thuróczy, Loes J A Gerringa, Maarten B Klunder, Patrick Laan, M Le Guitton & Hein J W de Baar
The standard deviation for Fe concentrations is missing when there were not enough samples to determine the concentration in duplicate or triplicate. Modelled values missing when the model could not fit the data using the upper limit.

Dissolved and dissolvable iron concentrations and ligand characteristics in samples taken during POLARSTERN expedition ARK-XXII/2 to the Arctic Ocean, supplement to: Thuróczy, Charles-Edouard; Gerringa, Loes J A; Klunder, Maarten B; Laan, Patrick; Le Guitton, M; de Baar, Hein J W (2011): Distinct trends in the speciation of iron between the shallow shelf seas and the deep basins of the Arctic Ocean. Journal of Geophysical Research, 116(C10), C10009

Charles-Edouard Thuróczy, Loes J A Gerringa, Maarten B Klunder, Patrick Laan, M Le Guitton & Hein J W de Baar
The speciation of iron was investigated in three shelf seas and three deep basins of the Arctic Ocean in 2007. The dissolved fraction (<0.2 µm) and a fraction < 1000 kDa were considered here. In addition, unfiltered samples were analyzed. Between 74 and 83% of dissolved iron was present in the fraction < 1000 kDa at all stations and depth, except at the chlorophyll maximum (42-64%). Distinct trends in iron concentrations and ligand characteristics were...

Calcite accumulation in the eastern equatorial Pacific, supplement to: Loubere, Paul; Mekik, Figen; Francois, Roger; Pichat, Sylvain (2004): Export fluxes of calcite in the eastern equatorial Pacific from the Last Glacial Maximum to present. Paleoceanography, 19(2), PA2018

Paul Loubere, Figen Mekik, Roger Francois & Sylvain Pichat
The eastern equatorial Pacific (EEP) is an important center of biological productivity, generating significant organic carbon and calcite fluxes to the deep ocean. We reconstructed paleocalcite flux for the past 30,000 years in four cores collected beneath the equatorial upwelling and the South Equatorial Current (SEC) by measuring ex230Th-normalized calcite accumulation rates corrected for dissolution with a newly developed proxy for "fraction of calcite preserved". This method produced very similar results at the four sites...

Total Sky Imager observations during POLARSTERN curise ANT-XXIX/1 on 2012-11-02 with links to images

Ronny Engelmann, Thomas Kanitz, Bernhard Pospichal, Henry Kleta & Andreas Macke
Dataset consists of total sky images taken every 15 seconds during daytime. The imager was mounted at the top of the bridge of the Research Vessel POLARSTERN. Each file is a jpg-image and all the necessary information on the aperture or exposition is written in the jpg-header.
