Mangroves and Meaning-Making: A mutual relationship over time? Ethnographic interview transcripts

Anne-Katrin Broocks
EN: Transcriptions of semi-structured interviews held with mangrove use groups during field work in the mangrove areas of Southern Ecuador. Questions developed based on cultural domain analysis (Borgatti 1994, Bernard 2006:266ff., Schnegg and Lang 2008) and grand tour questions (Spradley 1979:86) within the theoretical framework of the Sociology of Knowledge.ES: Transcripciones de entrevistas abiertas estandardizadas realizados con grupos usando los manglares durante un trabajo de campo en los manglares de Ecuador del sur. Mangroves and Meaning-Making: A mutual relationship over time? Transect Walks transcripts

Anne-Katrin Broocks
EN: Transcription of Transect Walks through the mangrove user communities and a science institution engaged in mangrove use. Developed in the context of Rapid Rural Appraisal methods for quick data gathering in community development (Chambers 2012, Pelto 2016:77), the method comprises of a systematical walk through the sample area accompanied by one or more knowledgeable people of the zone (Mukherjee 1997:52). Every object of interest was discussed and explained.ES: Transcripciones de Transect Walks en los...

Continuous thermosalinograph oceanography along RV SONNE cruise track SO285

Michael Schlundt, Tim Rixen & Bernhard Mayer
Underway temperature and salinity data was collected along the cruise track with two autonomous measurement systems, called self-cleaning monitoring boxes (SMBs). Usually, the SMBs are changed after 12 hours. While temperature is taken at the water inlet in about 4 m depth, salinity is estimated within the SMB from conductivity and interior temperature. Salinity was calibrated for each box independently against discrete water samples (see additional attachment). No temperature calibration was performed. For details to...

ADCP current measurements (75 kHz) during RV SONNE cruise SO285

Tim Rixen, Robert Kopte & Tim Dudeck
Upper-ocean velocities along the cruise track of RV SONNE cruise SO285 were continuously collected by a vessel-mounted Teledyne RD Instruments 75 kHz Ocean Surveyor ADCP. The transducer was located at 6.5 m below the water line. The instrument was operated in broadband mode with 5 m bins and a blanking distance of 8.0 m, while 100 bins were recorded using a pulse of 0.82 s. The ship's velocity was calculated from position fixes obtained by...

Mangroves and Meaning-Making: A mutual relationship over time? Expert interview transcripts

Anne-Katrin Broocks
EN: Transcriptions of semi-structured interviews held with stakeholders involved in mangrove management and/or mangrove use during field work in the mangrove areas of Southern Ecuador. Questions developed based on cultural domain analysis (Borgatti 1994, Bernard 2006:266ff., Schnegg and Lang 2008) and grand tour questions (Spradley 1979:86) within the theoretical framework of the Sociology of Knowledge. The lack of female voices is not only coincidently but symptomatic for the scientific and everyday-life (mangrove) discourse (cf. Merchant...
