Early Jewish and Christian Magical Traditions in Comparison and Contact

This article introduces the project Early Jewish and Christian Magical Traditions in Comparison and Contact, the first large-scale interdisciplinary comparative study of Jewish and Christian magical objects from Late Antiquity. It is expected to significantly improve knowledge of ancient magic and early Jewish–Christian relations in lived religion (i.e. religion as it was actually practiced in everyday life). The project examines the local and global features of these objects—and the social contexts behind them—through a synthetic...

VIKUS Viewer (overlay extension)

Daniel Jettka
The VIKUS Viewer (overlay extension) is an adaption of VIKUS Viewer, a web-based visualization system for the dynamic, interactive visualization of metadata (originally on cultural heritage data) that allows for the exploration of thematic and temporal patterns of large collections. The extension aims at the support of multi-media data that occurs in spoken language corpora (esp. audio and video). VIKUS Viewer was designed and developed by Christopher Pietsch. The VIKUS Viewer software is based on...

ESA-SICCI2 Arctic Ocean Winter-Time Monthly Sea-Ice Volume Timeseries

Stefan Kern
Abstract: ESA-CCI sea-ice-ecv phase2 project Envisat and CryoSat-2 monthly mean gridded Arctic sea-ice thickness and uncertainty estimates are combined with daily gridded Arctic satellite passive microwave sea-ice concentration observations and their uncertainties using the SICCI-2 algorithm derived within the same project to obtain an estimate of the Arctic Ocean monthly mean sea-ice volume during winter (October through April). The observational data gap centred at the pole is filled via interpolation as described in the retrieval...

ASCAT Global Maps of daily running 5-daily mean surface soil moisture

Stefan Kern
Abstract: The soil moisture time series data of the EUMETSAT H-SAF product H115 and its extension H116 based on MetOp-A and -B ASCAT data, processing version v5, are converted into geographic maps (cartesian grid) of daily running 5-day average/composite soil moisture (SM) distribution separately for ascending and descending overpasses. Two different 5-day SM distributions are given: one is based solely on nominally computed SM, the other one includes also those SM values which were negative...

The Aksumite Collection or Codex Σ (Sinodos of Qǝfrǝyā , MS C3-IV-71/C3-IV-73, Ethio- SPaRe UM-039): Codicological and Palaeographical Observations. With a Note on Material Analysis of Inks

Alessandro Bausi, Antonella Brita, Marco Di Bella, Denis Nosnitsin, Nikolas Sarris & Ira Rabin
The manuscript known as the Aksumite Collection (Sinodos of Qǝfrǝyā, MS C3-IV-71/C3-IV-73, Ethio-SPaRe UM-039) is one of the most important—if not the most important—Gǝʿǝz manuscripts which have come to scholarly attention in the last twenty years. While its textual content—primarily the complex canonical-liturgical collection, closely depending on late antique models, which it attests—has already been
the subject of several contributions, a description of physical and material features of the manuscript has not yet been published....

Intellectuals at Work: Preliminary Considerations on Medieval Scholars' Autograph Scripts (From the Second Half of the Twelfth to the Thirteenth Century)

Maria Cristina Rossi
It is not unusual that, in the course of their intellectual work, medieval scholars wrote on their own, without the help of a secretary or a scribe. A large quantity of material evidence kept in our libraries shows this important (and almost completely unknown) phenomenon of autography within European universities in their earliest phase. The aim of this paper is to lay the groundwork for a new and original research project, which will be carried...

Dataset re the manuscript entitled \"An Experience-Sampling Study on the Relevance of Affect Dynamics to Paranoid Ideation\"

Ulrike Nowak & Tania Marie Lincoln
Dataset Abstract of submitted manuscript: Affective functioning is compromised in people who develop persecutory delusions, but the specifics of these affective disturbances remain unclear. To better understand the precise nature of affective disturbance in this group, it could prove helpful to focus not only on average or momentary affect intensities but also on the dynamic properties of affect, that is, the patterns and regularities with which affect fluctuates over time. This study used experience-sampling in...

ASCAT Global Maps of monthly mean surface soil moisture
