The detection of permeable fractures is one of the research objectives of the KTB-project. Among seismic methods the tube wave survey is suggested for this purpose. A kinematic evaluation of first breaks of the direct P-wave in several VSPs, carried out at the KTB pilot hole in 1988 and 1989, is presented.
