South Yellow Sea sediment geochemistry

This dataset presents analyses of major and minor elements for a number of siliciclastic sediments from a core (CSDP-1) in the South Yellow Sea. Core CSDP-1, located at 122°22’E and 34°18’N, was drilled in the South Yellow Sea at a water depth of 52.5 m in 2013. To obtain a high-resolution geochemical record of core CSDP-1, we conducted an X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis on 718 bulk samples.

Geochemical data are provided for bentonites hosted in calcareous mudstones from the Eagle Ford formation in west Texas from a roadcut along old Highway 90 (29.826030,-101.623631). Geochemical data were collected using in situ laser ablation ICP-MS on bentonite billets. Data are reported as cation fraction because this method can only measure non-volatile components. Samples have variable amounts of carbonate component.
