Measurements of spatio-temporal bed evolution and sediment transport under four different bedload dominant transport conditions in the SAFL main channel

Jiyong Lee, Singh Arvind & Michele Guala
Accurate prediction of sediment transport rate is important for understanding of fluvial channel evolution. Yet, our understanding on the sediment transport processes is far from clear due to their large spatio-temporal variability, and complex interaction with flow dynamics and channel morphology. Assuming the most of sediment is transported by migrating bedforms, we study how various scales of migrating bedforms contribute to sediment transport. Our experiments suggest that small, secondary ripples on the bed surface emerge...

Supporting data for \"Sulfur geochemistry impacts population oscillations of wild rice (Zizania palustris)\"

Sophia LaFond-Hudson, Nathan W. Johnson, John Pastor & Brad Dewey
Wild rice populations decline with exposure to elevated sulfate due to production of sulfide in anoxic sediment. Using self-sustaining wild rice mesocosms, we collected data on the population response to sulfate, as well as iron and litter, which both may modify the production and availability of sulfide to plants. Wild rice also experiences natural population oscillations due to delays in release of nitrogen from decomposing litter. We use this data to investigate how sulfate-induced population...

Nonlinear Processing of a Multicomponent Communication Signal by Combination‑Sensitive Neurons in the Anuran Inferior Colliculus

This submission is a supplement to the paper entitled "Nonlinear processing of a multicomponent communication signal by combination-sensitive neurons in the anuran inferior colliculus" by Lee et al. (2017) published in the Journal of Comparative Physiology A. We investigated how female green treefrogs (Hyla cinerea) integrate multiple spectral components present in male advertisement calls. Typical calls have a bimodal spectrum consisting of low-frequency (0.9 kHz) and high-frequency (2.7 kHz) components that are transduced by different...

Indium Oxide Resistance Fluctuation Measurements

Nicholas A Lewellyn & Allen M Goldman
For superconducting indium oxide films with higher disorder, a more conventional superconductor-insulator transition is observed. Low frequency resistance measurements performed on such a film are shown in this dataset. Contrary to initial expectations there were no significant changes in the noise properties near the quantum critical point. However, it was found that the noise varied in a way that was consistent with predictions based on a percolation model. Specifically, the noise properties suggest that the...

Topography and flow model files for the Platte River, Nebraska, 2016-2017

Ajay B. Limaye
Automated techniques for extracting channels from topography are well developed for convergent channel networks, and identify flow paths based on land-surface gradients. These techniques—even when they allow multiple flow paths—do not consistently capture channel networks with frequent bifurcations (e.g., in rivers, deltas, and alluvial fans). The project uses multithread rivers as a template to develop a new approach for channel extraction suitable for channel networks with divergences. This data set includes topography and flow model...

Silver-ableC is an extension to the Silver attribute grammar system for writing ableC language specifications. It allows language developers to specify C language constructs using the concrete syntax of C instead of the more verbose and inconvenient abstract syntax.

Data from \"Detrimental effects of rhizobial inoculum early in the life of the partridge pea Chamaecrista fasciculata\"

Rachel E Pain, Ruth G Shaw & Seema N Sheth
Premise of the study: Mutualistic relationships with microbes may aid plants in overcoming environmental stressors, and increase the range of abiotic environments where plants can persist. Rhizobia, nitrogen-fixing bacteria associated with legumes, often confer fitness benefits to their host plants by increasing access to nitrogen in nitrogen-limited soils, but effects of rhizobia on host fitness under other stresses, such as drought, remain unclear. Methods: In this greenhouse study, we varied application of rhizobia (Bradyrhizobium sp.)...

Data supporting “Data Sharing Readiness in Academic Institutions” Version 1

Lisa R Johnston & Elizabeth Coburn
To address how the academic landscape for data repository and curation services changed since 2017 Spec Kit for Data Curation (Hudson-Vitale et al., 2017a), we used website content analysis to better understand data repository services in academic research libraries. Of the 124 ARL institutions we chose to focus on academic institutions and therefore excluded 10 civic libraries. For each of the remaining 114 ARL institutions we asked four research questions: Do they support data sharing...
