The paper primarily reports on inequality of pay on the micro- and the macro-level of the manufacturing sector in Vienna and Lower Austria at the high tide of industrialization. It arrives at the following conclusions: the size distribution of wages paid by factories was virtually the same as that of wages paid by crafts-shop; the size distributions of male and of female wages respectively did hardly overlap but the degree of inequality was the same...
