New antibiotic scaffolds with novel drug targets are needed to combat the rise of drug-resistant, infectious microorganisms. The bacterial translocase I is a ubiquitous enzyme in the peptidoglycan biosynthetic pathway that has yet to be targeted by clinically used antibiotics.
