The paper reports on the state of knowledge of Arem, a small endangeredlanguage of the Vietic branch of Austroasiatic. Special attention is paid to thesynchronic and diachronic phonology, which display many remarkable andhighly significant features. The paper is richly illustrated with lexical examples.
