This data set was acquired with a ship-based Kongsberg EM120 Multibeam Sonar system and Atlas Hydrosweep DS2 Multibeam Sonar system assembled as part of the 2006 AmundsenSea:Western_Larter data compilation (Chief Scientist: Dr. Robert Larter). These data files are of NetCDF Grid format and include gridded Bathymetry data and were processed after data collection. This data was cited by Larter et al., 2009 and Larter et al., 2007.

The flow of ice streams, which account for most discharge from large ice sheets, is controlled by processes operating at their bed. Data from modern ice stream beds are difficult to obtain, but where ice advanced onto continental shelves during glacial periods extensive areas of the former bed can be imaged using modern swath sonar tools.
