We have examined several approaches for estimating the surface concentration of particulate organic carbon, POC, from optical measurements of spectral remote-sensing reflectance, Rrs(Lambda), using field data collected in tropical and subtropical waters of the eastern South Pacific and eastern Atlantic Oceans.
