Sr(Ni5P3)2 crystallizes in the orthorhombic Cmce space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Sr2+ is bonded in a 12-coordinate geometry to eight P3- atoms. There are a spread of Sr–P bond distances ranging from 3.20–3.56 Å. There are four inequivalent Ni+1.60+ sites.
