NaN3 crystallizes in the monoclinic C2/m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Na1+ is bonded in a 2-coordinate geometry to ten N+0.33- atoms. There are a spread of Na–N bond distances ranging from 2.39–3.02 Å. There are two inequivalent N+0.33- sites.
