Ir7B3Sn4 crystallizes in the hexagonal P6_3/m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. there are two inequivalent Ir sites. In the first Ir site, Ir is bonded in a 2-coordinate geometry to two equivalent B and four Sn atoms. Both Ir–B bond lengths are 2.16 Å. There are a spread of Ir–Sn bond distances ranging from 2.73–2.95 Å. In the second Ir site, Ir is bonded to six equivalent B atoms to form face-sharing IrB6 octahedra....
