BaPdCl4 crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pbcn space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Ba2+ is bonded in a 8-coordinate geometry to eight Cl1- atoms. There are a spread of Ba–Cl bond distances ranging from 3.23–3.26 Å. Pd2+ is bonded in a square co-planar geometry to four Cl1- atoms. All Pd–Cl bond lengths are 2.33 Å.
