LiZr2(PO4)3 crystallizes in the trigonal R-3c space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Li1+ is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to six equivalent O2- atoms. All Li–O bond lengths are 2.44 Å. Zr4+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form ZrO6 octahedra that share corners with six equivalent PO4 tetrahedra. There are three shorter (2.07 Å) and three longer (2.13 Å) Zr–O bond lengths.
