CsSmGeS4 crystallizes in the orthorhombic P2_12_12_1 space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Cs1+ is bonded in a 8-coordinate geometry to eight S2- atoms. There are a spread of Cs–S bond distances ranging from 3.49–3.94 Å. Sm3+ is bonded to seven S2- atoms to form distorted SmS7 pentagonal bipyramids that share corners with two equivalent SmS7 pentagonal bipyramids, a cornercorner with one GeS4 tetrahedra, edges with two equivalent SmS7 pentagonal bipyramids, and edges with three equivalent...
