Na2Sn2H4O5 crystallizes in the orthorhombic P2_12_12_1 space group. The structure is two-dimensional and consists of two Na2Sn2H4O5 sheets oriented in the (0, 0, 1) direction. there are four inequivalent Na1+ sites. In the first Na1+ site, Na1+ is bonded in a 1-coordinate geometry to two H1+ and five O2- atoms. There are one shorter (2.42 Å) and one longer (2.48 Å) Na–H bond lengths.
