Sr2Pr2PtO6 crystallizes in the trigonal R-3 space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Sr2+ is bonded to six equivalent O2- atoms to form distorted SrO6 octahedra that share corners with three equivalent PtO6 octahedra, corners with nine equivalent PrO6 octahedra, edges with three equivalent SrO6 octahedra, a faceface with one PrO6 octahedra, and a faceface with one PtO6 octahedra.
