Focused interests and word learning in autistic preschoolers

This study builds on previous work with children on the autism spectrum suggesting that using their focused interests may support learning. Previous research has tailored social communication interventions using children’s focused interests and has indicated that outcomes may be improved when these interests are incorporated.
