Conspiratorial thinking is a growing, yet controversial area of psychological science. Prior research suggests that fear may be a motivating factor in conspiratorial ideation (Tetlock, 2002; Boat & Prunier, 2013; Goertzel, 1994), but that this tendency is more closely correlated with belief in conservative political values rather than liberal values.
