This thesis has two foci. The first focus is the development of a so-called simulation-optimization model. An optimization algorithm, Simulated Annealing (SA), is coupled with a Multiphase/ Multicomponent simulator, MUFTE-UG, to solve a real-world simulation-optimization problem (henceforth MUFTE-SA).
