Monovalent and trivalent platinum cations called non-classical oxidation states, were both stabilized in NaX zeolite after oxygen calcination. The low Si/Al ratio (Si/Al = 1.23) of the zeolite and the formation of Brønsted acid centers during the autoreduction process help to obtain these states.
