New insights into the structure performance relationships of Ce-based catalysts for synthesis of organic carbonates using CO2

Iuliia Prymak
This work focuses on the chemical utilization of CO2 in organic synthesis by means of direct carboxylation of C1-C2 alcohols (methanol and ethanol, respectively) to organic carbonates, e.g. dimethyl carbonate (DMC) and/or diethyl carbonate (DEC), over pure and P-modified Ce-Zr-O catalysts. The catalysts containing 80 mol% Ce and 20 mol% Zr exhibited the most efficient performance, which could be attributed to a good balance between the basic and acidic sites on its surface. The DMC...
