Most currently deployed public-key cryptosystems are certificate-based (CBPK) cryptosystems. In large and distributed user communities, CBPK cryptosystems typically require encryptors to obtain the public-key certificate of each intended recipient, and signature verifiers to obtain the public-key certificate of each claimed signer.
