This thesis is divided into 5 major sections. The first section covers the reactions of Ti(NR2)4 (R is methyl or ethyl) with the surface of partially dehydroxylated silica. This leads to the formation of well-defined grafted titanium complexes. The stoichiometry of the grafting reactions depends upon the degree of dehydroxylation of the silica.
